Next it was heading north up Hwy. 49 to Grass Valley. Grass Valley has a much larger Gold Rush era district than Auburn and the area was known as the 'Queen of the Northern Mines'. There are a few streets and an entire district of old houses that are well preserved from the Gold Rush era.
