This sunny yellow room is the small parlor of the Governor's Mansion. The portrait of Sam Houston was painted by Martin Johnson Heade in 1846 and depicts Houston in his early 50s when he was a U.S. senator. The pianoforte - made around 1830 - is the forerunner of the modern piano.
