Midnight Hole - Big Creek, Great Smoky Mountains National Park
canonfather > albums > Great Smoky Mountains National Park...
Album Info:
At the far Northeast corner of the park is Big Creek, near Mt. Sterling. A bridle trail runs along the creek, so you can take your horse (or llama). It's also a rather mild slope. A mile or so up from the trailhead is this named, but unmarked pool called Midnight Hole. The water is cold, clear, and beautiful. Trout are common in the pool and swimmers not uncommon. The color is best in bright sun, so mid-day is a good time to hike.
