    • David, I enjoyed seeing your photos of Mt. Hebo! From 1963 - 1966 I was at the 662nd Radar Squadron, Oakdale Army Installion, Pennsylvania. We also had an FPS-24 Search Radar but the FAA personnel operated it. We Air Force radar maintenance folks only took care of the FPS-90 and FPS-26A Height Finder Radars as well as three FPS-18 Gap Fillers, 2 in Ohio and 1 in West Virginia. Our FPS-24 did not have a radome cover like your ended up with. However, we did have ball bearing problems with the antenna and bearing race wear. I had heard of the Mt. Hebo radomes blowing down off the tower. You sure got lots of winter weather up there on that mountain much more than we had at Oakdale or at Baudette, MN and Montauk, NY where we had the sister radar, the FPS-35. Thanks for making your photos available. I do like and remember your FALCON! I bought my first new car which was a 1963 Falcon and kept it until 1978! I should have had the foresight to keep it right into today. I miss that car! Mine was black in color. If you were ever stationed at one of the radar squdrons on Okinawa or one of the Alaska sites then you may want to sign onto one of my two free Yahoo Groups: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ColdBayAlaska htto://groups.yahoo.com/group/KumeJimaOkinawa Be well: Larry Smith SMSgt, USAF (Ret.) Radar Maintenance 1961 - 1978 First Sergeant 1978 - 1989
