Album Info:
Built by Ahmed al-Jazzar ("The butcher"), the Ottoman governor of Acre in 1775-1804. As his nickname implies, al-Jazzar was notoriously cruel. However, he was the one to retain Acre's strength and significance, after hundreds years in which the city has been virtually forsaken. Al-Jazzar conquered the city from Dahar El-Omar, a Bedouin ruler who rebelled against the Ottoman empire. Before El-Omar, Acre has been virtually forsaken since the fall of the Crusaders.
