Pamela purchased sterling silver jewelry from several shops in Taxco. This store is owned and operated by three brothers. We received a presentation on how to distinguish sterling silver from plated silver and from silver-colored alloys. We also learned about the various grades of silver, which are based on the amount of alloy added to the pure silver to harden the metal. Sterling silver is made from 92.5% pure silver and is called 925 silver.
