Built in 1096 to extend the carolingian church, the roman choir and transept have been destroyed on 12th end to be replaced by this wonderful first gothic edifice built from 1185 to 1215; At this time, gothic is a new style and only St Denis & Sens cathedrals are on construction; Not any gothic cathedral exists when this choir is elevated & it will be a model for all gothic Cathedral Sisters choirs; A large ambulatory doted of radiant chapels crowns it.
