SAINT MICHAELS ABBEY was founded between 983 and 986 as a result of the needs and the culture of the pilgrims of that time, and it soon became an important spiritual centre and a great crossroad for cultural exchanges, midway between Mont Saint Michel and the Gargano, a destination of numerous, frequent and elitist visits.

Ciao! Love this photo and it brings back memories for me. I visited Sacra di san Michele in the autumn of 1985 with my Italian husband and his family. During my stay in Italy i lived in Coazze.
