Album Info:

Pangani is a small town on the east coast of Tanzania that was used as a trading post for slaves who were brought from the mainland (and then shipped to Arabic countries in the 1800s). Here sits decaying an old cell right on the river that was used to hold slaves. Pangani which means to divide and sort refers to the sorting and division of slaves according to their strength, sex, etc.--that is where the name of the town comes from. This is a sad part of Tanzanian history and much of Africa.
