Living as a small, sometimes persecuted minority, Druze have developed national loyalty as a central value. Despite being very closed and conservative religiously, Druze patriotism crosses religous boundaries. Thus, while Druze in the Golan display support for Syria, Druze in Lebanon took a leading part in the recent anti-Syrian "Cedar Revolution" and Druze in the Galilee hold prominent positions in the Israeli Army.
