Named for John Wayne. During the Great Depression in the 20's, traders Harry & Leone Goulding, to help the Navajo people, drove to Hollywood to capture the attention of John Ford. With scenic photos of Monument Valley and persistence, they succeeded. John Wayne would star in 5 films from 1939 to 1956.
