The architect leoh Ming Pei designed the extrodanary modern glass pyramid in the Louvre's main courtyard, which now forms the main entrance to the museum. Made of glass in order to be transparent and reflect the sky it stands 21.6m (71 feet) high and contains 793 panes of glass. It even boasts its own robot for weekly cleaning.
