Album Info:

“Hram Hrista Spaseetelya”- it’s one of the places I can only say in Russian now. History: Built in the 19th century to commemorate beating Napolean. Torn down by Stalin to build the tallest building in the world, the Palace of the Soviets, with a giant statue of Lenin on top (we’re talking 300 meters total). The ground, being by the river, was too soft to support the building (they realized this after the skeleton for the first few floor was built). So, instead, it became the world’s largest outdoor heated swimming pool until Mayor Luzhkov rebuilt the cathedral in the mid-90’s.
