MEMBERS OF THE RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORIST GROUP HAMAS. THEY HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO KIDNAP JOURNALISTS AND TOURISTS SO THIS WAS A BIT OF A TENSE MOMENT. We spent part of a day touring through the "capital" of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. The Palestinian territories under PA authority are full of various armed factions emanating from Yasser Arafat's central Fatah Party (the official ruling party). However, following Arafat's death, the factions have grown more rebellious and have caused problems for the new president, Mahmoud Abbas. The major non-Fatah faction is the radical Islamist and terrorist group Hamas.
