The stars were often thrown at medium distances using a variety of techniques as shown in the diagrams. 'Shuriken ( lit: "hand hidden blade") also known as "side swords" or "throwing blades", the martial art way of wielding the shuriken is known as shuriken-jutsu.' -wiki
