Battery Hearn - Commenced 1918 & completed 1921 at a cost of $148,105, Hearn and a companion Battery Smith were the last major caliber sea coast artillery inplaced on Corregidor before the Washington Diasarmament Treaty between the United States, Japan, Great Britain and France was signed in 1922. They were also the west ranged guns in Manila Bay on completion. The two guns were named Battery Smith Gun No. 1 and Battery Smith Gun No. 2 nicknamed "The Smith Brothers" until 1937 when Smith No. 2 was renamed Hearn in honor of Brigadier General Clint C. Hearn who commandd the harbor defenses of Manila and Subic Bay in 1919. (Taken from the location's marker)
