Medial moraines or tracks in the Mendenhall glacier, Alaska

Album Info:
As the glaciers inexorably move down the mountainside, they pulverize rocks, loose soil and vegetation. This substance is called 'moraine'. Over a period of time, the glacial rivers push the moraine to the side of the glaciers and in front of them. The former is called a lateral moraine, and the latter a terminal moraine. The apparent tracks in the glacial beds are formed when two or more glaciers combine together and the lateral moraine of two glacial rivers forms what is known as medial moraine.
