Strawberry Fields

It was FORTY years ago today, Sergeant Pepper taught the band to play. They've been going in and out of style. But they're guaranteed to raise a smile. So let me introduce to you, the act you've known for all these years, Sgt. Pepper's lonely hearts club band.............. On this day, June 1st forty years ago the Sergeant Pepper album was released, the same day forty years later, you released this album, coincidence? Someone took the time to lay out the flowers and the leaves, the apple to dot the i, and the candle. I wonder if Yoko is responsible. So the mosaic, located in Strawberry Fields park, represents John's solo song "Imagine". Excellent photograph Anitha! I like it so much, I think I will download it, Thank you!

The Beatles were my heroes when I was a young girl growing up in the 60's. I love their music just as much today as I did all those years ago. Quite recently I attended a Paul McCartney concert and it was as if time had stool still. I was instantly transported back to my youth as I listed to him singing the old Beatles hits. It could quite easily have been the Beatles themselves on stage. I was in heaven!! The Beatles must surely go down in history as GREAT British icons. They were the greatest musicians and songwriters of the 60's. In my opinion no one has ever equaled them for their talent and charisma, or even come close. I cannot praise them enough. I am so happy to see this photo featured today. Congratulations to you on having it chosen as POTD and thank you Webshots for this tribute to the Beatles and for bringing this significant date to you attention. Great, great shot. Jayne/England

This is a beautiful picture. I was just in NYC for the 1st time about 3 weeks ago and walked up to the Dakota's where Yoko lives and walked over and took a picture of this Imagaine mosaic. It's BEAUTIFUL!!! Congrats.. And remember "Imgaine" and "Give Peace a chance"! Peace!

Another wonderful addition to my collection of images of the 'Imagine' mosaic. I have 937 of them so far, and that's not including the 73 that I personally took.
