Old Spanish-type House, Romblon, Philippines

Album Info:
How I wish this house which stands right next to the town plaza will somehow get restored and preserved - all for its heritage value, quaint charm & sheer nostalgia! The second floor's capiz-shell inlaid windows and the carved wooden balusters beneath the windows all portray Spanish architectural influence. This town's been here since the 17th century when the Spaniards ruled this town. Many of these quaint homes are slowly being replaced by massive concrete buildings that are so devoid of the town's long historical value, warm & friendly character, and most of all, it's lovely charm. Take these all out and you simply have a town that's just ... BLAH! It was said that our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, on his way to exile in Dapitan in Mindanao was impressed of the beauty of this little harbor town. With this is mind, may the good folks of Romblon keep it so - a charming and beautiful little harbor town.
