Album Info:

At the foot of the flight of steps for Viharas, Stupas etc. there is a semi circular slab of stone shaped like a moon. There are sculptures of four animals and rows of flowers etc. on it. Some believe that each animal denotes a direction. There is a scholarly opinion that each of the four animal signifies birth, decay, ill health and death. By crossing the moonstone to reach the sanctuary the person symbolically crosses the mundane world to reach a higher plane.

  • What I like most about this album is the educative aspect. Not only are the pictures excellent but you have explained every picture in detail which provides added value to your work. Once you begin on this expedition because of the accompanying dialogue one is compelled to complete the journey. This type of work is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • wow - without your explanation it would have just been a beautifully ornately carved step - not a step into a "new" spiritual world.
