There is also, however, another theory that the place may represent a 'Hall of Proper Conduct' where gods assembled from time to time to be taught by the Buddha under the guidance of the youthful Brahmanic deities. I like the theory you mention in the caption to this shot...and I also like the texture and colours of the stone, they make the faces expressive.
