Album Info:
On the sea side of the Preappennines chain of Cinqueterre, 466 m.S.l., dwells the most ancient Ligurian Marian Sanctuary. Recently, digging under the church grounds, was highlighted the perimeter of a smaller church, traced back to the VIII century. The name Soviore maybe comes from sub viario, meaning the ancient military Roman road which, climbing up from Pignone, passed nearby under the mountain ridge, descended to Chiesanuova di Levanto, climbed up to Montaretto, then to Costa di Framura, and from there up to Sestri Levante. Others make it come from "sopra I vigneti" (over the vineyards), others from "suavis odor" (sweet smell), hinting at the perfume which was noticed when they found the statue again; yet others from "Madonna del sudore" (Madonna of the sweat) for the strain of climbing up to the Sanctuary.

And the true origin of the name remains quite a mistery:)
