Album Info:

What, then, does it mean for today's Jew to utter the words "next year in Jerusalem" at the end of every Passover seder? The most straightforward answer is that "Jerusalem" refers to the future city--and its Temple--rebuilt when the Messiah comes. Most traditional Jews feel quite comfortable expressing this messianic longing at the end of the seder, just as at the end of each Shabbat Jews recite the hope that the Messiah should come "speedily in our day." And to clarify for Israelis, some traditional Haggadot indicate that those in the Jewish state should replace the phrase with "next year in Jerusalem, the rebuilt," implying a rebuilt Temple.
