The plate on the plinth shown in the last picture; Glastonbury ( The Isle of Avalon) is eleven miles. Shame about my shoe and specs in shot, still, never mind eh? Maiden castle is to the south, this was another "fort" of the Durotriges tribe, it's the largest fort in the British Isles, and was again attacked by the Romans; the famous war cemetery can be seen, with the remains of the defenders; some have Roman javelins still embedded in the skeletons. 15 miles South from here is Templecombe, where a Preceptory of the Knights Templar used to be. You can see one genuine relic of theirs, in my "Knights Templar painting" folder here. Stonehenge is 32 miles away, and the legendary birthplace of Arthur, Tintagel, is 108 miles.

Fantastic! I almost opened the Knights Templar Painting album first, and somehow was drawn to this one first!!! In just the right order!
