Album Info:

(DSC03976) The Fort is located some 250 kilometers north from Puerto Princesa City (capital of Palawan province). Taytay, together with Cuyo, are the oldest towns in the province. In 1622 Count San Agustin was commissioned by Governor General Fajardo to establish the first Spanish colony in Taytay and Cuyo. In Taytay a fort was constructed, first as a wooden palisade, in 1667. In 1700, some 100 exiles from other provinces were sent to help build the fort, this time made out of stones cut out from the sea floor. It was finally finished on December 17, 1783 under the term of Gobernadorcillo Tierra de Salcedo. (Taken from http://www.pcsd.ph/photo_gallery/wonders /Taytay%20Profile.htm)
