  • I was born in Morristown. In fact, I was born in the little saltbox house that was directly behind the northwest backside of Washington's Headquarters. Unfortunately, that sweet house of happiness was eventually destroyed to make room for some major highway. But Morristown was a really good place to grow up, especially since my father taught American history! Can you imagine all the first-hand knowledge I obtained thanks to my mother and father taking me all over and around Morristown? My father loved teaching, and really was able to take huge advantage of the area to place his students right back to when and where. The statue of Thomas Paine is across the street from the little Cape Cod house we eventually bought and moved into, when I was eight years old. So Daddy and I would walk by it all the time, and talk about Thomas Paine. My mother and I used to love going to Jockey Hollow, and seeing the herbal/vegetable gardens. The library brings me to tears. Both my mother and father took me there ALL THE TIME. MY library was my second home, and if I close my eyes, I can actually conjure up the musty smell of that lovely, historical building and all its wood. I've now lived more years here in Southern California than I did in Morristown, but I still think of Morristown as my HOME. Thank you immensely for the emotional photos. I have my own stories to "match up with" each of yours! Susie
