Dedicated May 10, 1948 (Mother's Day), this monument celebrating motherhood, sculpted by Luis Ortíz Monasterio, sits in Jardín Mariscal Santa Cruz, near the intersection of Paseo de la Reforma and Insurgentes Centro, in Colonia San Rafael. Three sculptures comprise this monument. To one side of the large, middle, sculpture is the figure of an indigenous male, to the other side an indigenous female. In the middle, draped in a traditional rebozo, is a mother holding her child.
