Album Info:

On the dock I could see the men staring at me. I had lost 25 pounds living on the same diet as the soldiers, and I must have looked gaunt and ghastly standing there in my old war-stained clothes - no bemedaled commander of inspiring presence... ~~ A personal account by Gen. Douglas MacArthur (Reminiscences., McGraw Hill 1964 P.142)

    • Forgot to 'emphasize' >> what an 'interesting' and 'scenic' place this is, as well as your usual VERY concientious photographing ! ! !

    • This [beautiful] scene reminds of those many years ago, (sometime between 1942 and 1945), McArthur was in Seattle for some reason (?); my mother heard that McArthur and his little enterouge of several vehicles would be passing by where we lived - as they were on a tour of some kind. We were on our front porch,(my mother and I), he was in a convertable, the top down, we just watched them pass by. McArtur in his ‘sunglasses’ and ‘that cap’ [of course]. It was on a sunny afternoon, my dad was working in the shipyard five miles away, he would ride a bike to work during the summer. Those times, [so different] from today‘s…! - A $.05 little story - for whatever it is worth.
