(DSC01324) The circumference is 1248 feet. The sides are of unequal lengths and the one fronting the city is the main gate. Total inside area is 2,025.6 sq. m. The walls are 20 feet high, 8 feet thick and the tower are 30 feet high from the ground level. 14 cannons were mounted in their emplacements most of which are still there today. (Taken from the historical marker near Bastion La Concepcion inside the fort)

    • Ding, Glad you pointed this out since that was exactly my difficulty when I took photos at the fort entrance. The morning sunlight came from behind this wall. If I tilted my camera to include the 2 towers & arches, I would have a very washed out picture. So I had to tilt lower my focus to exclude the sunlit towers - just so I could get the details of the stone-carved inscriptions. I also had to abstain from using the flash since I needed the natural shadows to highlight the stone texture & lift the carved words from the stone. Great insight there, Ding!     • I like the management of light here. This shot is so difficult to compose so that the photographer does not wash out the light and darken all shadows. But it seemed that you captured both. Great shot, Mary Ann. This would have taken me a couple of shots (light and dark) and combining both to show details. Bravo, Mary Ann.
