Album Info:
Jehangir's palace is the largest private residence in the Agra Fort built by Akbar for his son, Jahangir. The palace displays an interesting blend of Hindu and central Asian architectural styles - a contrast to the unique Moghul style which had developed by the time of Shah Jahan. The Hindu style was the influence of Akbar's Hindu wife, Jodhabai. The Sheesh Mahal or the mirror palace was the harem dressing room whose walls are inlaid with tiny mirrors. The palace has a hall, called Jodhabai's dressing Room. Jodhabai was Jahangir's Hindu mother and its design and layout is essentially Hindu.

Is it still a private residence? It is not as ornate as previous palaces, but still lovely.

Beautiful photo, Suresh. I don't know how I missed learning of Muslims in India when I was in school ...I have always had it in my mind India was/is only Hindu. I have learned so much in the last year or so. Thanks, Suresh.
