Album Info:
When the park finally opened, I literally ran the entire distance of the three quarter mile trail down to the falls. I wanted to get a couple of shots off before the tourists got into the water. I was rewarded with this photograph. The falls are running a little below what is considered to be the normal level. That is a, just starting to blossom, heliconia to the right adding a real tropical flavor.

Hi again Clark ... I started enjoying this wonderful album last night, but it was getting late and I had to quit ... couldn't resist popping back in ... had to tell you, I was first in Hawaii in 1969 (first husband, Viet Nam, R&R). We went here, to Waimea Falls, and something happened there,a great story, I've told 'till it's in tatters, and will tell again here: While we stood, waiting to pay for our tickets, gazing at the loveliness all around us, I heard a voice to my left. It said: "I can talk ... can you fly?" HAHA! Much to my surprise, there stood a gorgeous parrot on his perch, just behind me!!! Head cocked to one side, intelligent eye daring me to answer!!! Toooo cool!!! I think I've remembered that parrot even better than I've remembered this magic place until now. Thanks for bringing back a wonderful, wonderful memory!!
