Album Info:
(DSC03359) ..... Through the years, it became clear that Teachers’ Camp remained a priority for both the Department of Public Instruction and the Philippine Commission. While in the Camp's early years participants used to live, eat and work in tents, it became increasingly evident by the Department of Public Instruction and the Colonial Government that funds had to be allocated for the improvement of the Camp’s infrastructure. Thus, dormitories, cottages, a social and mess halls were constructed. Roads and pathways within the camp were improved, and an athletic field was built. Upon completion, it was then one of the most modern of its kind in the country. American dignitaries like William Howard Taft, Paul Monroe, Cameron Forbes, Bishop Brent and Dean Worcester, as well as important Filipinos – among them Gregorio Araneta, Camilio Osias, Rafael Palma and Juan Sumulong - all of them walked its grounds.
