Album Info:
A streetcorner in Gyantse. Gyantse seems a far more Tibetan city than contemporary Lhasa in many ways. There seem to be proportionally more ethnic Tibetans in Gyantse than in Lhasa, and fewer Chinese people. Also, the monasteries around Gyantse have preserved some of the most incredible artwork I've seen in Tibet. Although much was destroyed, it's miraculous that so much of this artwork survived the Cultural Revolution.
