Great Renaissance castle built by King Francois Ist in the large forest of Fontainebleau in 1528 on remainings of an old 12th Capetian manor; Since 16th, all French Kings came there up to Emperor Napoleon III; Napoleon Ist loved to be there more than in Versailles where he could not support the Sun King shadow of glory; The central staircase of this picture,called Horseshoe, was used by Napoleon on abdication to leave his troups.

What a beautiful photo. I love how the steel grey roofs make the thunderclouds even more ominous. And the castle is amazing. I would love to visit it.

We've just seen it on TV, a few days back in a live broadcast, but it did not look so beautiful as it does in your phto. Maybe the stormy sky adds a welcome contrast.
