His Ifugao ancestors fought alongside American and Filipino troops during WWII. Feared by their enemies, Ifugao and Igorot warriors are well-known fierce fighters. It was no wonder that Gen. Tomoyuki Yamashita of the Japanese Imperial forces unconditionally surrendered to the Allied troops right here on these very mountains on Sep. 2, 1945.
