Wow! Looks painted. The Eucalyptus trees around here do the same thing and also form those beautiful patternd on the trunk but the colors are more neutral. I'll have to take a pic of them :)- Jess

I wondered what these trees were. The bark does the same thing as the Madrona trees. The bark is always peeling off and makes a crunchy carpet on the forest floor.
