Kualoa Rainbow

Album Info:
I went out to Kualoa Park to catch the dawn. The weather conditions were very poor due to a passing tropical storm to the south. I wanted to see if I could photograph the sun rising up beneath the cloud layer. The horizon was overcast so the sunrise was nothing to write home about. Another bust... I packed up my gear and started wandering aimlessly back through the park toward my truck. God touched His mighty bow to the ground before me. It appeared and vanished in less than two minutes.

Great rainbow! That's one thing I've always loved about Hawaii, torrential rain at night and beautiful sun during the day! Leslie

What a great shot! Fantastic! And your other photos of sunsets and sunrises are all amazing, difficult to tell which one is my favourite. This one is so special though. Thank you for your nice words in my MV album, I do appreciate it! I was lucky enough to spend one week in Waikiki/Oahu in 1984, while I was working in Oakland CA. I rent a car one day to drive around. Unforgettable. I'd like to go back and visit the big island though. One ship that "followed" me was USS Enterprise, based in Alameda CA at that time (where I lived and that became crowded when the ship was in town) and who spent a couple days in Honolulu while I was there. I wonder if that ship still operates? Anyway, I loved looking at your dream photos. Best regards from Geneva. Barbara

The right place, at the right time, with the right equipment, and a good photographer, leads to a fantastic picture. It is truly the "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow.

Beautiful Clark! The shot I took of Opaeka'a falls 4 years ago happened the very same way. I'm not usually a morning person, but I rolled out of bed hoping to capture a sunrise and almost stayed in bed because it was raining pretty hard. My friend loves to remind me that had he not gotten me up, I would have totally missed the perfectly placed rainbow framing the falls. Learned my lesson and now I never sleep in when visiting Hawaii. You're so lucky to live there!

What an amazing gift!! Just when you think it is time to go home as nothing spectacular seems to be happening, God whispers to your heart and appears gifting you with a brilliant rainbow reminding you of the miracle and beauty of life and nature all around you at every moment... it is always there! I love the amazing illumination on the ground at the base of the bow, it is magnificent! I can imagine the sweet moist air of the rainforest. And the wonderfully rainsoaked clouds caressing the beautiful mountains of the island are so pretty! This is a most inspiring image Clark! Thank you so much for the link! I am so happy you were standing here at this moment! As you were witnessing this wonder on the south pacific, I was almost simultaneously watching the sun skip across the horizon before rising to appear over a permafrost forest in the land of the midnight sun! I patiently waited for it all night while watching a cow moose browsing nearby as she then enjoyed a swim in the marsh pond, every now and then glancing my way. I was also gifted with a beautiful sight as a reward for my endurance! Come and see! It is my most recent collection, added today. Aloha! Sharon

That was a really long paddle, but worth every stroke. Beautiful rainbow capture. They never last long, glad you were able to get your camera working before it disappeared. Thanks for the invite.........Marion
