  • Steve, I want to hike along here someday. Great album of a place (Amicalola Falls) I never knew about before your photos. In response to your quetion about how I like my 18-200mm VR zoom: - This is the best lens I have ever used. I can get all the way from a pretty good macro kind of distance to a fairly wide angle and out to 200mm, and enjoy the 3 to 4 extra stops by virtue of the VR. As to your question about did I use it on my McKittrick Canyon shots: - No. I used the only other lens I carry, a Tokina 12-24mm super wide angle, internal focusing zoom. McKittrick was actually my first real use of the lens but I am very satisfied with it. I used a circular polarizer for many of the shots in McKittrick and you can see the effect of a super wide angle with polarizer in some landscape oriented shots where the sky goes from deep blue and shades across to a lighter color as the angle of view extends beyond the optimum angle for the polarizer. One other note about McKittrick - the wind was blowing about 50-60 mph that day and the trees were really dancing about in the wind. So, to get as fast a shutter speed as possible while keeping a small enough aperture for a good depth-of-field on most of those shots I set ISO to 1200 and counted on the D200 to handle the noise and I think it did a great job. Sorry to run on like this. I've got to get back to looking at this album. Bill
