  • This picture shows the Al-Aqsa mosque, which is regarded by the Muslims as the third most important place after Mecca and Medina. The wall is the Southern Wall and was built by the Ottomans and surrounds the old city of Jerusalem. King Abdallah the first, the great-grandfather of King Abdallah II was assassinated in the Al-Aqsa mosque, while his grandson, who became later King Hussein was standing next to him. Untill 1967 the West Bank, including this place, was a part of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Not seen on this picture is the Umayyah Palace that was built by Abdel Malik ibn El-Marwan and his son Al-Walid. It is a part of the Jerusalem Archaeological Park (see: http://www.archpark.org.il ) Here was also the main entrance to the Temple. By Christian tradition this was the place of Temptation of Jesus in Jerusalem. The other place is near Jericho.

  • I forget the name of this spot and while I agree with the commentor before me, I don't enjoying reading a copy of his/her comment under every photo!

  • I viewed your pics and they are all very nice, but it would have been helpful if there was a little description or story of what I was looking at.
