Album Info:

The Sagada Ceramics Center was founded in January of 2001 by U.S. based potter, Archie Stapleton. Sagada, home of the Igorot people, is located in the Central Cordillera Mountains of the island of Northern Luzon in the Philippines, and is where Stapleton grew up as the son of Episcopal missionaries. The Center was established with the following goals in mind: to reintroduce ceramics to the area, to create an income generating industry for the people of the Cordillera, and to provide Stapleton with a venue to experiment with found materials in making ceramics. The building and land for the project were donated by the mayor of Sagada, Mr. Thomas Killip, and the money for outfitting the workshop with equipment was provided by a grant from the Ella Lyman Cabot Trust based in the United States.
