Album Info:

This Monolithic statue of Narasingha, also called उग्र-नरसिंह (Ugra-Narasingha), is the LARGEST statue in Hampi standing 6.7m tall. A smaller statue of Lakshmi was present earlier on the left thigh of Narasingha - now only a portion of a hand remains after it was vandalized in the Bahmani raids that pillaged Vijaynagar in 1565. Compared to the photographs taken circa 1917 by A. H. Longhurst ("Hampi Ruins", Asian Educational Services, 2008) this statue has clearly been reconstructed in the recent past.
