Album Info:

After nearly three months of combat operations on Bataan, the Filipino-American Forces on Bataan and Corregidor were nearing their end of resistance against the Japanese. President Roosevelt ordered General MacArthur to leave the Philippines for Australia. Those that remained on the island of Luzon became known as "The Battling Bastards of Bataan" due to the poem written below: "The Battling Bastards of Bataan,/ No Mama, No Papa, No Uncle Sam,/ No aunts, no uncles, no cousins, no nieces,/ No pills, no planes, no artillery pieces,/ And nobody gives a damn!" ~~~by Frank Hewlett, 1942. (Note: Above photo taken at the Pacific War Memorial Grounds)
