Very effective light and shadow in this picture -- the shadow helps to bring out the steepness of the mountains. The presence of these high fields is a testimony to the resourcefulness of human beings. Thank you for letting us know about this spot.

My friend, in looking at my albums, you asked me to look at this one, and now that I have opened it, I am surprised to find BARLEY growing at this high altitude in Tibet! And this photo is stunning - for it's composition, it's clarity, and it's simplicity and beauty. I'm in for a treat, I see, as I click to see the next photo in your album. Thanks for the invite! Keep up the good shooting! Art

Hi, Thanks for your comment...this is so beautiful, and well captured, an much appreciated. A place I will never see with my own eyes. This sure represents a different way of life, a slower way, and I am sure they do not use pestisides which is destroying our eco system! Thanks so much for you invite to this lovely photograph. I will look at your whole album, and I must be honest with you....my dial up is very slow....so most times I view only the thumbs, unless it is something so striking as this. Look forward to seeing more of your work. This photograph should be featured. Thanks!

I would give my soul to get there, I have deep respect and love for Tibet, poor monks roast that barley then grind it ina powder and that is thier tea what they drink...Barley is the most nourishing of all oats, so they can survive..I hope we live to see the day of FREE Tibet...Ladislav you made my day,....Thank you...Marra...I will come back as today morning I am busy....of course I didnt find my album on members choice:) Would you paste a red arrow for silly old ladies???? Have a great day...and I was born in Transylvania, just sadly now is Romania....

It is amazing to see barley field at that elevation! Our home town is almost equal to foothills of Tatra mountains. Every spring arrives at least two months later than lower lands.
