Religious Freedom in Maryland - the "Three Lancets"
gbjphotoworks > albums > Washington National Cathedral - Sta...
Album Info:
This is not an album of pictures of stained glass windows, but, again, by request... projections from this window, Rowan LeCompte's "Religious Freedom in Maryland", appear several times in this "Stained Glass Impressions" album. The land occupied by Washington D.C. was historically part of the colony and early state of Maryland. As such, Maryland has a special bay near the entrance end of the Cathedral's nave, which includes this beautiful window. A hallmark of Maryland's colonial history was a 1649 Act of Religious Toleration in the colony's General Assembly. LeCompte's stained glass artistry celebrates that Act, and the resulting religious diversity found in Maryland.

I like this one the best. It would be realy cool if you could stand on a ladder and take these at eye level...maybe one day they will let you. I would love to see those.
