Album Info:
The Temple Mount (aka Mount Moriah) is where the 1st and 2nd Jewish temples used to stand. The 1st was destroyed by Babylon in 586 BCE and the 2nd was destroyed by Rome in 70 CE. The Dung Gate (from which refuse was removed) has been widened to allow vehicle entrance by the Jordanians, who rulled the eastern part of Jerusalem in 1948-67. Today it serves as an enterance to the Western Wall, the holiest site to Jews. P.S. The beautiful golden church is The Russian Church of Mary Magdalene.
