Feel like you're back in europe? CHIJMES (pronounced as "chimes") is a building complex which began its life as a Catholic convent known as the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ) and convent quarters (Caldwell House). It is located at Victoria Street, within Singapore's central business district. The convent buildings has a Gothic-style chapel constructed in 1904. Currently, the chapel, is now a multi-purpose hall (commonly known as CHIJMES Hall, and Caldwell House has been converted to an art gallery. Recently restored, the complex is now a popular dining,and entertainment hub with ethnic and international restaurants, shops. The place also provides a spectacular backdrop for performances and weddings.
