I am standing near the Poplar Tunes sign looking out across Danny Thomas Boulevard at the Exxon store. That store is on the same location as Crown Electric, 353 Poplar Avenue. Elvis' last "real job" before the entertainment career became self supporting was driving a delivery truck for Crown Electric. In 1956 the national press often focused on Elvis' work history. They described him as "the former truck driver, now a millionaire." Probably every Elvis fan has read or watched something about Crown Electric.
