The first ship we boarded was the 123-foot L.A. Dunton, one of the last large engineless fishing schooners built. By 1923 it was fitted with an engine and usually fished for haddock and halibut. It was purchased for preservation by Mystic Seaport in 1963 and became a National Historic Lankmark in 1993.
