Album Info:

A late afternoon walk on the levee in the Holy Cross neighborhood: view of the two "steamboat houses." Their design is thought to have been partly inspired by a Japanese pagoda at the St. Louis World's Fair of 1904. The original owners -- and later residents -- could watch the Mississippi River from the crow's nest. In addition to protection from flooding, the Mississippi River levee provides some valuable green space.
