(DSC03575) English Translation of Marker: "Established on Dec. 11, 1907 under Governor of Benguet William F. Pack for the American and Filipino teachers in this place that used to be called "O-RING-AO" by the Igorot natives; created/adopted the camp's framework by W. Morgan Shuster, Secretary of the Bureau of Public Instruction in Jan. 18, 1908; began in Apr. 6, 1908 as venue for athletic events and vacation for teachers & local government employees; M.J. Hazelton, first administrator (1908-1909); Alberto Dalusung, first Filipino director (1938-1956); held the first Teachers Vacation Assembly (Apr. 6 to May 30, 1908); built the first building in 1911; built the mess hall and cottage for the Camp Director in 1912; used by the Philippine Military Academy from Jun. 15, 1936 to Dec. 12, 1941; became hospital for the Japanese occupiers in 1942- 1945; renovated and re-opened in 1947; now used as venue for conferences & athletic meets for officials of the Department of Education, teachers and students."
